Szeged's "lungs", the city's largest park, is being enriched with new trees, thanks to the support of Provident Financial Ltd. The financial service provider says in a statement that it attaches great importance to supporting the social environment in which it operates in a variety of ways, and its ProviGreen program fits in well with this effort.
For one of the largest financial service providers in the Southern Hungary region, with a national active customer base of several hundred thousand, it is a strategic goal to shape and enrich the social environment of its business operations as a responsible company. As part of this objective, Provident's afforestation initiative aims to contribute to a healthy and harmonious environment for the people of Szeged. In the 15-hectare Újszeged grove, which also hosts the Open Air Theater, the shade of linden, oak and maple trees provides relaxation for the people of Szeged. Thanks to a HUF 1 million grant from Provident, 15 new trees will be planted in this environment, with the help of the financial services provider's staff.
As the statement highlights, Provident is not only linked to Szeged through its customers, it is also a major employer in the city. Its Group Service Center (SSC) employs 124 people, 20 of whom are disabled. The administration center in Szeged was established between 2015 and 2017 and has been operating in its current form since September 2017, providing full administrative support to Hungarian Provident. This is why the city has a prominent place in the life of the company, including in the implementation of its ProviGreen program for the protection of the environment. Under the program, the company's employees take part in several litter picks each year, most recently cleaning up the downtown stretch of the Tisza riverbank, but also collecting more than ten cars' load of used clothes this year as part of a recycling drive.
Edvin Mihálik, Újszeged Municipal Councilor responsible for the Green City program, said that the 15 trees that have just been planted not only have aesthetic value, but also contribute to the livability of the city and to reducing the heat island effect. Initiatives like this will improve the quality of life for local residents and strengthen sustainability in Szeged in the long term."
Attila Horváth, Director of Provident Financial Ltd. pointed out that “it is particularly important for Provident to not only improve the lives of its customers in Szeged, a key location of its business operations, with its financial solutions, but also to actively contribute to the development of the community and the environment. The objectives of the ProviGreen program include reducing the company's ecological footprint and promoting an environmentally conscious approach, while implementing initiatives that support Szeged's sustainable and green future."
The saplings are planted by Provident Financial Ltd. employees under the professional supervision of Szeged Environment Management Nonprofit Ltd.
