The 41st Construma International Building Trade Exhibition opened at the Hungexpo fair site in the Hungarian capital this Wednesday. More than 400 Hungarian and foreign exhibitors present their products and services at Hungexpo from March 29 to April 2.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, State Secretary for Architecture at the Ministry of Construction and Transport, Regő Lánszki pointed out that infrastructure development, public investment and support for family housing were all on target. On the latter, he cited as an example the fact that the number of dwellings in the country has increased by 110,000 in the last seven years and that 92% of Hungarians currently own their own property.
This quantitative growth must now be followed by a qualitative change, Regő Lánszki said, adding that technological change must also take place. The construction industry has reached a turning point: the quantitative growth of recent years must now be followed by a qualitative change.
This qualitative change will also be directly supported by promoting innovation and the market penetration of substitute products. Grants and tenders will be used to encourage manufacturers to carry out research and development activities at their sites in Hungary. They will also encourage the import of new technologies and innovative construction products to Hungary and their application and production.
The Hungarotherm building services exhibition and the 11th OTTHONDesign exhibition are held in parallel with Construma. The focus of the professional programs and the exhibition will be on the challenges of the future building industry, energy efficiency, energy-saving homes and sustainability.
The opening ceremony was followed by the presentation of the Construma Awards. This year, the recipients were Source Lab Ltd., Szentes Cserépkályha and EU-Solar Plc.
