Not long after Olimpia did so, another legendary restaurant is closing in Budapest: the Hungarian fine dining pioneer Csalogány26 has announced on Facebook that it will no longer open.
As the business news site hvg.hu writes, citing the gastronomy journal Magyar Konyha ('Hungarian Kitchen'), the decision was not only influenced by the coronavirus epidemic, there have been several occasions when the idea of a new direction in the kitchen has been discussed.
The journal understands that Balázs Pethő, owner of the Csalogány street restaurant, which is recommended by the Michelin Guide, will continue his business in the countryside, in Csákberény (in Fejér County, southwest of Budapest), where he hopes to take advantage of the area's developing tourist potential in a modern but rural-style restaurant.
