The pear caramel mousse dessert by Szamos Marzipan has been named the winning cake of the Budapest Dessert 2020 competition.
The dessert is Sacher sponge cake vanilla mousse with cold pear puree in it and topped with caramel. The cake can be tasted for the first time at this year's Sweet Days Budapest chocolate and sweets festival between September 18 and 20 in front of St. Stephen's Basilica.
It was for the third time that the Hungarian Chocolate and Sweets Association held the Budapest Dessert Competition, the essence of which is that they want to find a sweet that can enrich the offer of confectioneries by winning over the audience, according to Csaba Rebrus, president of the association.
In addition, the main goal of the competition is to bring Hungarian confectionery traditions into focus and to create a worthy place for Hungarian desserts in the offers of restaurants and confectioneries.
The most important consideration by the jury was that the winning product, in addition to the aesthetics, should be delicate and relatively easy to prepare, so, in addition to the confectioners, it could also be made by housewives.
