The National Public Health Center (NNK) has confirmed monkeypox infection in six more people. Including them, it is 70 people who have been diagnosed with the disease in Hungary, the NNK told the state news agency MTI on Thursday.

The Center said the cases confirmed last week were men aged between 29 and 43 living in the capital. Their general condition is good, none of them need hospital treatment.

The regional epidemiological authority is conducting an epidemiological investigation of all patients, including contact tracing, they added.

The disease starts with general, non-specific symptoms of fever, chills, muscle aches, back pain, headache, fatigue and swelling of the lymph nodes, followed by a rash 1-3 days after the initial symptoms. Rashes often occur first on the face, then on the palms and soles, but may also appear on the mucous membranes of the mouth, genitals and around the rectum.
