Soaring Demand for Private Healthcare in Hungary

October 15, 2021

Demand for private healthcare has grown dynamically in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic, with Dr. Rose Private Hospital seeing a more than 30% increase in revenue compared to two years ago, mainly due to an increase in surgical services, the business news site napi.hu reports.

More and more people are being forced out of public health care and into private health care, the private hospital's managing director, Kornél Papik said at a press briefing. In 2021, the facility, which was strengthened this year with a USD 600 million capacity expansion, is set to serve nearly 50,000 clients.

Branding is also part of the renewal and the Budapest Plastic Institute brand, which had been operating as an independent brand since 2010 but is now part of the private hospital as it was transformed and integrated into Dr. Rose Private Hospital from the beginning of October. The primary reason for this is that plastic surgery and medical aesthetic care has become even more popular with patients. The purely private hospital generates around 35% of its HUF 4 billion turnover from plastic surgery.
