This year, the world travel industry's most prestigious awards program, the World Travel Awards, was held for the 28th time and Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest, opened in the heart of Budapest this summer, has won the category of 'Hungary's Leading Hotel'.
According to a press release, the Hungarian luxury hotel, located in the iconic building of Matild Palace, is part of The Luxury Collection portfolio of Marriott International and has previously been selected among the best new hotels in the world on the international travel lists of The Times (UK), Condé Nast Traveler (Spain) and Robb Report (United States).
On October 22nd, the travel industry's most prestigious awards program rewarded leaders in the tourism, airline, hotel and hospitality sectors. Described as the “Oscars” of the travel and tourism industry by the Wall Street Journal, the well-known awards ceremony has been held every year since 1993 rewarding excellence in the travel industry, inspiring those working in the sector to continually improve the quality of their services and products. At the 28th award ceremony, Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest has been awarded "Hungary's Leading Hotel 2021''.
“It is a great honour for us, for the whole team of Matild Palace, to have earned this prestigious award and to be ranked among the world’s best hotels by more and more international media. We believe this is just the beginning and we can draw further attention to this fantastic city that deserves recognition very much from the international press” said Selim Ölmez, Hotel Manager of Matild Palace.
The 130-room Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest, belonging to the portfolio of Marriott International, made its debut in the reborn iconic building of Budapest this summer together with the first European Spago restaurant and the secret rooftop bar, The Duchess, both under the gastronomic leadership of world-famous chef Wolfgang Puck. The historic Matild Café & Cabaret is expected to open in spring 2022 in Matild Palace as well.
Great Britain's oldest and most prestigious conservative daily, The Times (founded in 1785) has written about Matild Palace: “If you have been to Budapest, you already know this belle époque beauty down on the Danube besides Elizabeth Bridge. It is a city landmark whose wedding-cake interiors have been given some 21st-century attitude thanks to cutting-edge art and contemporary furniture.” Among other things, the author highlights The Duchess, the hotel's (not so) secret rooftop bar, and the bathrooms reminiscent of Hungary's famous thermal baths.
