The management company Budapest Airport has announced that the renovation of runway 2 of Budapest's Liszt Ferenc International Airport begins this Monday and it will be carried out by Budapest Airport in a single phase.
According to the airport operato, travel restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic again resulted in a significant reduction in passenger traffic, so the maintenance of the runway and associated taxiways was timed for this period.
As part of the work, the shafts of taxiway drainage systems will be repaired, track thermometers, navigation and lighting systems will be maintained, and minor concrete surface repairs will be carried out to ensure flight safety. Runway 2 paintings are renewed and the rubber burned in the landing zone during landing is removed.
During the renovation, aircraft will only be able to use Runway 1 for take-off and landing. In order to maintain the highest level of airport security, Budapest Airport modernizes and maintains runways and taxiways every year.
