Eger Connected to National Motorway Network

The M25 motorway connecting Eger with the M3 motorway was handed over to motorists this Monday. The 19-kilometer section, built in two phases, cost about HUF 50 billion.

Driver can use the M25 road free of charge until January 1, 2021 after which it becomes part of the national toll road network. The road and related investments were built in three years and, according to officials, is expected bring about a noticeable change in the quality of life of the 52,000 inhabitants of Eger and the approximately 85,000 people living in the immediate vicinity of the city.

The investment will shorten travel times and improve traffic safety between Eger and Budapest. In addition, the noise of passing traffic, the load on the environment and the risk of accidents are likely to be reduced in the settlements of the area.
