Rail Cargo Hungaria, a member of Rail Cargo Group, Acemil Holding and China's Taitong International Transport, have signed an agreement strengthening their cooperation, Rail Cargo Hungaria said on Wednesday.
The statement says the partners discussed a new freight service between Baoding, a city of 12 million people in China's Hebei province, and Budapest, via Turkey.
The parties plan to operate the transport via the southern transcontinental corridor as a new transport alternative due to the situation that has developed at the EU border crossing point in Malaszewicze, Poland. Taitong already has traffic from Baoding to Kazakhstan and the region. This tried and tested route would take Hungarian shipments to Turkey, from where the Rail Cargo Group would forward the freight trains.
MTI notes that Rail Cargo Hungaria had revenue of HUF 86.3bn in 2024, public records show.
