42 % of Hungarians who work from home at least one day a week are planning to renovate their homes to make their environment more suitable for telecommuting, and 48 % have already made some improvements for this purpose, according to a Hungarian survey sent to the state news agency MTI on Monday.

The representative Opinio survey, commissioned by VELUX, was conducted in February 2022 and included 1,206 people aged 16-59 with smartphones in Hungary. The company also conducted a global survey of employee attitudes towards working from home to understand the challenges employees face and to better understand their aspirations to create an ideal environment.

In the Hungarian survey, 50% of those who work from home said they save time and money on food, clothing and transport, 60% said the home office makes their day more flexible and 47% said they can spend more time with family.

It points out that working from home and hybrid working is likely to continue in the long term and therefore impacts on many areas of people's lives, including the design and layout of their homes.

The analysis shows that in this context, access to natural light and fresh air are among the most important needs, with 69% of Hungarians ranking the former as a key factor when it comes to the ideal working environment at home, while 66% rank the latter as a key factor.
