Best of Budapest & Hungary 2012 annual gala

Budapest Week Publishing presented the most outstanding restaurants, hotels and winemakers of the past year with the coveted Best of Budapest & Hungary Award during 20th Best of Budapest & Hungary Gala in the Hungarian capital this past Saturday evening.

Budapest
Week Publishing has conducted an annual survey of its readers since 1993
regarding which of their favorite local restaurants, hotels and suppliers to
the hospitality industry should be considered the best in the trade. On March 23,
the winners were recognized at the 20th annual Best of Budapest & Hungary gala
event.

The winners
of the 61 categories and ten special awards were announced at a high profile ceremony, held in the grand
ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel for the 13th consecutive year. The event
was attended by some 600 prominent guests from leaders of the international
business community, representatives of Hungary’s hospitality and
service-industries, and members of the international diplomatic corps.

The organizers
of the Best of Budapest & Hungary Gala always make an effort to exceed
their performance of the previous year and treat guests with more diversified
programs and delicious meals, providing a truly enjoyable evening and insight
to the newest gastronomic creations of a variety of restaurants under one roof.

This year,
the Best of Budapest & Hungary Awards Gala featured 17 restaurants and eight wineries in the signature program, the
‘Taste of the Town’, an eclectic mix of gastronomic delights accompanied with
fine wines and spirits from around the world. Besides Hungarian and
international dishes, Chinese, Far Eastern, Hungarian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, and Russiankitchens were showcased.

Each year
the Best of Budapest Gala benefits a Hungarian charity with the proceeds from
raffle ticket sales. This year’s recipient is the Csodalámpa (Magic Lamp)
Foundation. The Foundation’s aim is to grant a wish to any, 3-18 years old
child, who suffers from a life-threatening illness and whose family normally
cannot afford to fulfill this wish.
