On Sunday, 5,543 people entered Hungary at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, while 7,324 of those entering at the Romanian-Hungarian border said they had come from Ukraine, the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) said.
As reported by MTI on Monday morning, of those who entered, police issued 49 people with temporary residence permits valid for 30 days. They will have to go to the office of the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing for their place of residence to obtain their permanent documents.
93 people – including 41 children – arrived in Budapest by train, fleeing the war in Ukraine, ORFK said. The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) said on police.hu that they are working with the Standby Police to help refugees arriving by train from Ukraine. The Budapest Civil Guard Association is also providing support.
BRFK officers are in constant contact with the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, the National Directorate General for Aliens, the Hungarian State Railways, the Budapest Transport Center, the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing, the Budapest City Government Office and the staff of aid organizations, BRFK added.
