Over the past week, 140 chronic patients, mostly elderly, died (22 more than in the previous week), bringing the total number of deaths related to the new coronavirus infection in Hungary to 47,938, according to the government portal koronavirus.gov.hu.
9,023 new cases of new coronavirus infection were confirmed over this period, thus, the total number of identified infections is 2,141,513 since the start of the outbreak of the pandemic
The number of cured patients is 2,061,999, while the number of active infected is 31,576. 1,371 patients with new coronavirus infection are currently hospitalized, 25 of them are on ventilators.
The total number of people vaccinated against coronavirus is 6,419,183, of whom 6,205,608 have received their second, 3,899,385 their third and 364,943 their fourth vaccination, according to last week's data from the government portal.
According to the government portal, the epidemic in Hungary is currently at a moderate level, thanks in part to high vaccination coverage. Unvaccinated people remain the most at risk and are still being urged to get vaccinated.
