COVID-19: Less New Cases but More Fatalities in Hungary

A total of 12,636 new cases of the new coronavirus infection were confirmed last week (1,129 fewer than reported a week ago), bringing the total number of identified infections to 2,120,543 since the start of the outbreak, while the number of deaths related to the infection was up by over 40%, according to the related government website koronavirus.gov.hu.

104 patients have died (up from 73 last week), bringing the total number of deaths to 47,680. The number of cured people is steadily increasing, currently 2,036,700, and the number of active infected has risen to 36,163 (that is, 1,124 more than a week before).

1,700 coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized (52 fewer than a week before), 32 of whom are on ventilators.

The total number of vaccinated persons is 6,418,580, of which 6,205,067 are on their second vaccination, 3,898,061 on their third and 352,741 on their fourth.
