German coach Bernd Storck has been appointed as the manager of the Hungarian national football (soccer) team by the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ). The move comes after German club Hertha BSC no longer allows its Hungarian head coach Pál Dárdai to command the national team also.
As MLSZ President Sándor Csányi pointed out, the organization's original intention was to have Pál Dárdai as national coach until the end of the European championship qualification series (that is, four more matches) but they undersatnd that the Berlin club insists on Dárdai concentrating on his club coach responsibilities only.
Bernd Storck was chosen as MLSZ sports director earlier this year and was head coach of the Hungarian U-20 national side that won one match and lost three at the world championship last month. His appointment for managing the senior national team is for the remaining four European championship qualifying matches this Eptember and October: home games against Romania and the Feroe Islands at home and away matches in Northern Ireland and Greece.
