Head of Hungarian Defense Forces Visits Ukraine

Heading a delegation, the Commander of the Hungarian Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Dr. Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi visited Ukraine this Friday at the invitation of the Ukrainian Chief of General Staff, Colonel General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Hungarian defense issues website honvedelem.hu reported this Friday morning.

During the visit, the main topics of discussion between the army commanders of the two countries included the situation during the Russian-Ukrainian war, but military relations between Hungary and Ukraine and their future were also discussed.

At the meeting, the Hungarian commanders provided information on the force development in Hungary, the related processes, and the current tasks and challenges facing the Hungarian Defense Forces. He also provided information on the tasks facing the Hungarian Defense Forces in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Then, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi informed the Commander of the Hungarian Defense Forces about the situation in Ukraine and the current military tasks. The Ukrainian Chief of General Staff also said that the Hungarian Commander's visit to Ukraine in this difficult period had shown his great support and solidarity, and that he appreciated the professional and friendly relationship with the Commander of the Hungarian Defense Forces, not least the excellent level of military relations between the two countries.

After the talks, Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi and his delegation, accompanied by the Ukrainian Deputy Chief of Staff, visited the most important areas affected by the Russian-Ukrainian war and the current state of the towns and settlements near the front line. At these sites, the Hungarian commander also met with regional, provincial and municipal leaders. He was briefed on the situation in the respective districts and on the ongoing developments there.

At the end of the visit, Lieutenant General Dr. Romulus Ruszin-Szendi expressed his appreciation for the performance of the Ukrainian soldiers who, despite the considerable sacrifices, are defending their country and its people with courage and heroism.
