Home prices in Hungary rose 16.8% year-on-year in September, listings site ingatlan.com said on Friday. In the capital, Budapest, home prices climbed 22.1%.
According to information from the real estate advertising portal, asking prices are 16.8% higher nationwide and 22.1% higher in Budapest than a year ago, but prices have risen at a similar rate in northern Hungary, which exceeds the growth rate measured in Pest County (15.4%) and the West Transdanubia region (14.6%).In a month-on-month comparison, home prices rose 2.7% nationwide and increased 2.6% in Budapest.
Price increases accelerated in September on higher demand driven by the Home Start subsidised credit scheme for first-time home buyers, ingatlan.com said.
The average price for a resale home listed in Budapest's central districts VI and VII were HUF 1.6 million and 1.5 million/sqm, respectively early in October. The average listing price in cities in the countryside was HUF 987,000/sqm in Debrecen, HUF 818,000/sqm in Pécs and HUF 937,000/sqm in Szeged.
