Hungarian police, who will be taking part in border control operations, have set off for Serbia and Macedonia, to help local authorities reinforce border security along the Macedonian-Greek and Serbian-Bulgarian borders.

According to the website of the Hungarian Police Force, 15 of them in Macedonia and 30 in Serbia will be performing patrol duties to prevent and investigate illegal border crossings, in addition to apprehending people smugglers and illegal immigrants entering the territory of Macedonia and Serbia.

The Hungarian contingents will not only be on duty in the direct vicinity of the border, but also on major and minor roads, the statement added.

Both contingents will be reinforcing the protection of the relevant border with all train vehicles, night vision equipment and hand-held heat cameras.
