The Special Medical and Rescue Team of the University of Debrecen has arrived in Beirut to take part in the rescue operations after the explosion that devastated the Lebanese capital on Tuesday.
The Hungarian team, which includes anesthesiologists, neurologists and surgeons as well as a technical expert, took with them about 200 kilograms of equipment. The medical diagnostic tools, bandages, medicine (like antibiotics or painkillers), rescue tools and ventilator.
This Saturday, the team was helping out in a private hospital. "We have inspected several patients in critical condition, including an eight-year-old girl in coma," Dr. András Késmárky told the newscast of the Hungarian commercial channel RTL Klub.
"A military emergency hospital is planned to be set up and that is where we hope to start working tomorrow in a separate ambulance unit," he added.
The Hungarian team is scheduled to work in Beirut until next Thursday.
