Two thirds of Hungarians have some form of insurance; the majority have property insurance, mostly for property and motor vehicles, according to a survey by UNIQA Insurance.
The summary shows that half of the 18–50-year-olds surveyed online also have life insurance. The majority of graduates have at least three policies, and the proportion of people with insurance increases as the level of education rises.
Almost a quarter of those surveyed have taken out travel insurance in the past year, with couples and families being the most likely to have taken out insurance. The proportion is higher among graduates, mainly because they travel more.
A quarter of those surveyed have canceled any insurance product in the last six months.
In an uncertain economic climate, demand for savings-type products tends to increase, especially among graduates, who tend to take out insurance at a higher rate. In addition, the younger age group is also showing a stronger than average interest in different types of asset protection products, UNIQA said, based on the survey results.
