The number of flights HungaroControl's air traffic controllers managed in Hungarian airspace rose 8.2% to 1,245,813 in 2025, the state-owned company told MTI on Monday.
Overflights, that is, transit traffic accounted for nearly 85% of air traffic in Hungary, reflecting the country's key transit role in European air transport.
HungaroControl expects further traffic growth in 2026, so the company will continue its previously initiated capacity expansion and efficiency-enhancing technological, operational and organizational developments.
In the announcement, Ferenc Turi, CEO of HungaroControl, explained that they had achieved their main goal for 2025: despite uninterrupted growth in traffic, they had managed to significantly reduce flight delays. He noted that this is a tremendous professional achievement, which is recognized by all industry players. "We have regained our reputation, which was damaged in the previous year, and have taken a number of measures that will lay the foundation for the company's future success," he said.
HungaroControl Plc., which employs more than 800 people, is a state-owned company that also provides air navigation services in the high airspace over Kosovo, on a NATO assignment, Including those flights, the number managed by HungaroControl ATCs reached 1,406,209 in 2025.
The company's activities include the training of air traffic control personnel and research and development in the field of air navigation.
