The Hungarian police are committed to preventing illegal migrants from entering the country and the European Union. To this end, it has offered its support to the countries of the Western Balkans, in addition to its tasks in Hungary.

The members of the 52nd Hungarian police contingent to Serbia, the 64th to Northern Macedonia and the 3rd to Slovenia were seen off by Lieutenant Colonel Gergely Czukor, Head of the Border Police Department of the ORFK, this Tuesday at the central facility of the Intervention Police in Budapest.

The main tasks of the Hungarian police officers in those countries are patrol duties to prevent and detect illegal border crossings and to assist in the apprehension of people smugglers and illegal migrants. "Our colleagues will be on duty not only in the immediate vicinity of the border but also on the roads in the low-lying areas. The contingents will support the protection of the border section concerned with off-road service vehicles, hand-held night vision devices, hand-held thermal imaging cameras and mobile thermal imaging cameras," police.hu reports-
