This morning, more than 330,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines have again arrived in Hungary. This is the 21st shipment of the Comirnaty vaccine, bringing the total in Hungary to more than 3.2 million doses, the company said in a statement.
Pfizer and BioNTech are currently forecast to produce and supply more than 2.5 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccine worldwide by the end of 2021. Under an agreement announced with the European Commission on April 14, deliveries of 50 million doses of the vaccine will be accelerated, with 250 million doses of Comirnaty vaccine expected to be delivered to the European Union in the second quarter of 2021.
"With more than 260 million doses of Comirnaty vaccine administered worldwide to date, the high number of people vaccinated to date means that the risk-benefit profile of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine remains positive," the statement said.
Hungary has been supplied weekly by Pfizer for more than four months. In the first quarter, more than 1.5 million doses were delivered, and from the second quarter of 2021, the volume will be significantly increased, with 1.3 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arriving in the country in May alone.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the most popular anti-COVID-19 jab in Hungary where not only vaccines approved by the European Medicine Agency (EMA) are offered but also Russian and Chinese jabs that do not have EMA authorization.
