Pandemic Restrictions to Stay in Force at least until May 3

Another 14 people died of the Covid-19 disease in Hungary in the past 24 hours, raising the official number of deceased in the current pandemic to 239 in this country. The confirmed number of people infected with the coronavirus now stands at 2,284. There are 10,942 people in compulsory home quarantine and 390 recovered. The official number of samples tested in an accredited laboratory in the country is 55,390.

In related news, Gergely Gulyás, the Minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed today that the government will decide next Wednesday on a plan for a gradual relaunch of the economy and a possible easement of restrictive measures. However, the restrictions currently in force will remain until May 3.

During today’s Operational Group press conference, Róbert Kiss, Lieutenant Colonel of the Hungarian Police Force, said the government curfew is still in force, but local authorities will be able to issue stricter movement restrictions over the next two weekends.
