Home sales in Hungary fell 2.1% year-on-year to 9,292 in July, a monthly estimate by listed real estate broker Duna House shows. For the period January-July, home sales fell 9.7% year-on-year to 65,846.

July saw the more subdued activity typical of the summer months in the Hungarian real estate market: 9,292 sales took place, which is 5.8% lower than in June and 2.1% lower than during the same period last year, Duna House reported on Monday, based on its own estimates.

According to the statement, the decline is not surprising, as the summer months are considered a quieter period in the real estate market, with some buyers and sellers postponing transactions due to vacations.

However, the temporary slowdown in demand is indicated by the fact that the number of transactions fell 2.1% below last July’s level, the company noted.

According to data from Credipass, the group’s international financial brand, the total value of residential mortgage loan contracts in Hungary reached HUF 274 billion in July 2026. This volume is 2.9% lower than the June figure, but represents a significant 93% increase compared to the data for July of last year published by the National Bank of Hungary.
