Daniel Ricciardo of the Red Bull team won the 29th Hungarian Grand Prix car race at the Hungaroring circuit just east of Budapest on Sunday ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and 2013 winner Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. This was the second career GP victory for the Australian driver.

Ricciardo completed the 70 laps in 1 hour, 53 minutes and 5.058 seconds, 5.225 seconds ahead of Spanish driver Alonso while Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain, the winner of the Hungarian GP in the previous two years, finished third with another 5.857 seconds behind.

The third place is especially a good result for Hamilton as he had to start the race from the pit lane as his car caught fire during the first qualifying session.

Before the next race, the Belgian GP on August 24, Nico Rosberg, driving a Mercedes at 4th at the Hungaroring this year, tops this year’s drivers’ competition with 221 points, followed by Hamilton (191), Ricciardo (131) and Alonso (115).
