Disaster management authorities were alerted 3,700 times over the week-end and Monday morning. A spokesman for the National Directorate General for Disaster Management says people were also injured as trees fell on two cars.
Spokesman Márton Hajdu told the Hungarian news agency MTI that damages to 140 buildings were reported to the authorities: in most cases, the roofs - or roof parts - were ripped off by the strong winds.
