Hungary's Constitutional Court on Monday rejected all three petitions from opposition Fidesz and the Christian Democrats (KDNP) challenging amendments to the Fundamental Law.
The court dismissed the petitions primarily on grounds of lack of jurisdiction.
Fidesz-KDNP had sought the annulment of parts of the 17th amendment to the Fundamental Law, including the provision that immediately terminated President Tamás Sulyok's mandate. They also challenged the amendment introducing term limits for MPs, barring those who have served for at least 12 years or three terms from running again.
They had also contested the amendment reinstating the mandatory retirement age of 70 for Constitutional Court judges.
Here, too, the Constitutional Court rejected the petition, primarily on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction, while also noting that the motion filed by the opposition representatives did not meet the statutory requirements.
