The northeastern Hungarian town of Tiszaújváros hosts its 19th consecutive triathlon World Cup event in the framework of the TVK Great Triathlon Week festival between August 1 and 9. The World Cup is expected to be attended by some 200 competitors from 41 countries.
The World Cup event in Tiszaújváros is also a qualification competition for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Organizers say five Hungarian competitors still have the chance to qualify for the Olympics. They include Ákos Vanek, who actually won the Tiszaújváros World Cup event last year, and his sister, Margit Vanek who finished second in the women's race of this event last year.
