The strengthening of ties between the two peoples will make Sino-Hungarian relations even more resilient. That is according to China’s ambassador to Hungary, Gong Tao, who is of the opinion that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 77 years ago, Sino-Hungarian relations have developed in a healthy and stable manner, regardless of changes in the international situation.
He was of the view at a press briefing at the Chinese Embassy in Budapest this week that Hungary consistently respects China’s position on issues that concern China’s core interests and major concerns, such as the Taiwan issue. At the same time, China has always supported Hungary in pursuing a development path suited to its own national conditions, respects the choice of the Hungarian people, and is pleased to see that the Hungarian parliamentary elections were successfully concluded.
The ambassador added that, following the official formation of the new Hungarian government, friendly exchanges have already begun between the leaders of the two countries. In his congratulatory message to Prime Minister Péter Magyar, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized that he is ready to work with the new Hungarian government to strengthen high-level relations, deepen political trust, and expand practical cooperation and people-to-people ties, so that the people of both countries may benefit from this cooperation. In his reply, Prime Minister Péter Magyar emphasized that the Hungarian government attaches great importance to its relations with China, regards China as an important economic partner, and is confident that bilateral relations will continue to develop, serving the common interests of the two peoples.
According to the ambassador, practical cooperation between the two countries continues to show positive momentum. The China Brand Fair supplier exhibition will open in Budapest next week, during which a China-Hungary Business Forum will also take place. The event will help strengthen industry ties and support Hungarian companies’ entry into the Chinese market. In the ambassador’s opinion, China remains ready to maintain close ties and dialogue with Hungary’s new government and various stakeholders in society, deepen practical cooperation, and equal treatment, and mutual benefit, bringing even more tangible results to the people of both countries.
