One-fifth of the adult Hungarian population is planning to buy real estate this year, and the majority of prospective buyers are the youngest, aged 18-29, according to a joint research by Duna House and Reacty Digital.
Károly Benedikt, the head of analysis at the Duna House property agency, highlights that in the last two years, the first home buyers have appeared in the real estate market in increasing numbers. According to the latest research, this will be further strengthened this year, as the proportion of young people living in rent is above average, and based on market experience, most of them can take advantage of the subsidies and discounts provided by the home creation program.
He adds that professional help in buying real estate and financial products is also important for first-time home buyers. According to research, this is also felt by young people, and every third prospective buyer would also use such a service.
About two-thirds (63%) of 18-59-year-olds surveyed in a representative survey of a thousand-person sample have their own property. One in five respondents planned to buy property in 2021, and a good fifth of purchase planners would do so with the help of a home loan, chocolate or baby waiting allowance.
The research also found that those who want to buy (20%) have a higher proportion than those who plan to sell (13%), and the proportion of those who want to sell and buy is 8%
