The Hungarian national team beat Spain 9-5 on the last day of the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games to clinch the third place. All in all, Hungary finished 15th on the medal table with six gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.

After thirteen years, the Hungarian men's water polo team won another medal at the Olympics, beating Spain 9-5 in the bronze medal match. The first two quarters were close (5-5), however, the Hungarians didn't concede any goal the second half while scoring four. The team played with great spirit, Dénes Varga scored the last goal into the empty net. Goalkeeper Viktor Nagy made several brilliant saves in the last game of his career.

The Hungarian delegation collected six gold medals at the Tokyo Games that ended this Sunday - two less than in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 - but the number of silver and seven bronze medals (seven each) is much higher than five years ago (three each).
