Germany's Tamara Korpatsch won the singles at the Budapest Ladies Open USD 115,000 WTA women's clay court challenger tournament at the Római Tennis Academy in the Hungarian capital this Saturday.
Korpatsch, who started the tournament in the qualification stage, beat Bulgaria's Viktoriya Tomova in three sets in the final to win her first WTA title. The first two sets were decided in tie-breaks, but in the deciding set, the German, ranked 118th in the world, did not allow her opponent (No. 109) a single game.
"I had an amazing week in Budapest. I'm so happy and proud of myself that I could keep fighting till the end of this difficult tournament. From Qualies to the Title!," Korpatsch said.
In the doubles final, the first-seed Hungarian-Belgian duo of Anna Bondár and Kimberley Zimmerman defeated Jesika Maleckova and Renata Voracova, both of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5.
