After 18 years, Hungary’s national medical football team won the world championship title again as they won the World Medical and Health Games (Medigames) tournament in Monte Gordo, Portugal.
The Hungarian national team, made up of doctors, medical students and pharmacy students, won all their games, marching through to the final with a flawless performance. For instance, they dispatched Brazil 3-0.
The final against Norway was 2-all after normal time and the game after went to a penalty shootout that the Hungarians won. After winning the world title in 2004, the Hungarian medical team proved to be the best in the world once again.
Their results were as follows: Hungary 3 – Brazil 0; Hungary 5 – Colombia 0; Hungary 2 – Secumed (South American team) 0; Hungary 1 – Mexico 0; Hungary 2 – Norway 2 (with penalties: 7-6).
