This fall, Holcim Hungary Ltd. is launching its Community Value Program for the 11th time, with the aim of encouraging and supporting the implementation of long-term sustainable projects that promote local, community-based cooperation between the Királyegyháza Cement Plant and the communities near the Bükkösd Quarry.
According to the company's statement, Holcim is committed to supporting local communities and sustainability. This is why Holcim Magyarország Ltd. has been announcing its Community Value Program every year since 2018, within the framework of which it supports sustainable, development-oriented community programmes based on the needs of local communities, strengthening the cohesion and cooperation of the people living in the settlement in the following areas: education, skills development; health preservation; environmental protection, climate protection; development of infrastructure supporting local communities; and other initiatives aimed at promoting and developing local community life.
The success of the scheme is demonstrated by the more than 130 projects implemented in 18 municipalities over the 10 application cycles to date, with a contribution of around HUF 40 million, and the "Effect 2030 - ESG Solutions" award, which was presented in October this year. The jury recognised the importance of the program's social impact by awarding it second place in the "Everyone's Society" category, the press release said.
"Within the Holcim Community Value Program, we support community-building projects that are forward-looking, environmentally conscious and represent values that are sustainable in the long term. Among the previous award-winning entries, we have contributed to the creation of a herb garden in Szentlőrinc with more than 30 species, the renovation of a bell in Tarcsapusta, a symbol of community cohesion, and the creation of a modern school DIY room in Bükkösd, a place for community programs. These projects show the power of communities and the importance of giving them a chance to shape our future. We are proud that we have been able to contribute to their realisation through these grants. We are confident that we will receive similar quality entries to our call for proposals this year," the Head of Communications at Holcim Hungary, Judit Turbéki said.
