The winners of Generali's sustainability competition have been announced, with the jury selecting the best projects from more than 120.
In its Wednesday press release, Generali Insurance recalled that in order to support the stability and efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their transition to sustainable operations, the Generali Group launched the EnterPrize international business development and attitude-shaping program in 2021, which the Hungarian Generali Insurance joined for the third year.
According to the announcement, despite the economic challenges of recent years, the proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises in Hungary that have introduced or plan to introduce a sustainability strategy has increased by 4% compared to last year.
The number of work plans submitted to the Generali EnterPrize competition is an indication of Hungarian SMEs' commitment to sustainability, with more than 120 Hungarian companies submitting their applications this year in the categories of environmental protection, employee well-being and responsibility towards micro-communities, Mihály Erdős, the CEO of Generali Insurance, said in the statement. He added that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises play an important role in Europe's economic development and the EnterPrize competition aims to further strengthen the awareness of the importance of sustainability among SMEs.
In Hungary, the Sudár estate won the environmental award: the company is a family-owned organic spice and herb farm with 100% chemical-free operations. The winner in the Employee Wellbeing category was Ganzair Kompresszortechnika Ltd., a manufacturer and systems integrator of gas, industrial air, vehicle compressors, generators and hydrogen technology. The winner in the Micro-Environmental Responsibility category was 3R-BioPhosphate Ltd., a leader in the R&D, design and full industrialization of zero-emission pyrolysis technology and the various bioproducts it produces.
The three companies have each won HUF 5 million to implement their programs under the EnterPrize competition.
