Sweden's Ericsson and the North Macedonian units of Hungary's 4iG Group and have signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation, according to a statement published on Monday.
The strategic partnership outlined in the MoU, signed by 4iG unit One Macedonia and Ericsson Telecommunications Macedonia, aims to involve Ericsson in the design, delivery and commissioning of equipment for the first standalone 5G mobile network in the Western Balkans, the statement said.
The planned cooperation is conditional on the conclusion of the North Macedonian national spectrum tender, in which One Macedonia is the sole bidder, 4iG said. The results of the tender are expected to be announced in early November, it added.
