Telecommunications companies say data traffic has now largely shifted back to pre-coronavirus levels, the daily Világgazdaság writes, having asked major mobile operators about the topic.
Compared to the increased network traffic in the spring due to the epidemic, there is now a decline in both voice calls and data traffic, but there is still a trend for users to use more data every year.
At Telenor Hungary, turnover increased by 30% compared to the same period last year, this expansion is in line with the trend of previous years, the provider said. According to Vodafone, compared to the sudden and strong increase in traffic at the time of the virus, the decline was large, 30%, meaning that call and data traffic had basically returned to its normal annual growth level. Compared to the same period of the previous year, voice traffic increased by 5% and data traffic by almost 40%.
Magyar Telekom told the paper that "we can see that mobile and fixed voice traffic have now returned to roughly the level before the outbreak. In terms of mobile data traffic, there is an increase of 13-15% compared to the reference point at the end of February, due to the normal annual growth trend of data usage, which we expect to increase in the coming period."
