It could be Hungarian guests who boost tourism, which has seen a severe decline due to the epidemic. According to a recent survey, up to a million Hungarian tourists can visit the capital, but Lake Balaton can also be a popular destination.

71.7% of Hungarians plan to travel in 2021 in the event of the coronavirus epidemic recedes, says a Tárki research institute survey, commissioned by the tourism consulting company Everguest.

In the representative research, Hungarians who had taken part in a multi-day domestic or foreign tourist trip at least once in the last two years were interviewed. 10.7% of respondents would go abroad, while 40.2% would travel domestically and 20.8% would also go on holiday abroad and at home, spending at least one night away from home. In contrast, 18.4% do not plan to travel and 9.8% are unsure about the issue.

According to the research, Lake Balaton enjoys unprecedented popularity and Budapest can be a good opportunity. Everguest estimates that up to one million Hungarian guests can travel to the capital if they are welcomed with more cultural programs and good value for money.
