Today, Spar Hungary sells a total of 3,600 own-brand products in its stores in 31 product categories in Hungary, and this year, the range will be further expanded, the store chain's communications manager, Márk Maczelka said on Monday.
It is planned that 300 new own-brand products will be on the shelves, Márk Maczelka is quoted by the business news site napi.hu. "Outstanding developments are expected in the dairy, bakery and convenience sectors."
He also reported that the coronavirus epidemic also affected customer habits: several smaller purchases were replaced by rarer but larger purchases of fresh, from-the-counter and pre-packaged products.
In parallel, sales of packaged tray meats and meat products increased by approximately 30%. The same trend is observed for cold cuts. The fresh meat segment in online shop sales started to develop dynamically in 2020: compared to 2019, the turnover quadrupled.
