Rail Cargo Hungaria (RCH) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Srbija Kargo JSC and Makedonski Zeleznici Transport AD to strengthen cooperation among the three market-leading rail companies in the transport of goods from the Far East, RCH announced to MTI on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, the partnership covers existing continental connections between China and Europe, as well as terminals on the European continent, and the transport of goods arriving at or departing from European ports by ship, supplemented by road transport necessary for door-to-door delivery.
According to the document, Rail Cargo Hungaria will establish strategic cooperation with the two Balkan railway companies to, among other things, speed up transport, shorten transit times, increase cost-efficiency and improve the efficiency of logistics processes.
The cooperation covers the international use of interoperable locomotives, operational coordination on the planned Piraeus-Athens-Nis-Skopje-Budapest-Vienna route, as well as the terms of commercial cooperation and the development of technical specifications for train projects. The parties intend to expand intermodal transport in European markets, simplify border crossings and customs procedures, and reduce administrative barriers to facilitate faster freight traffic, Rail Cargo Hungaria reported.
