Budapest's first integrated transport exhibition and training space, WEMOVE, has opened to showcase the future of urban mobility, in cooperation with the Future Mobility Alliance, the Hungarian Automobile Club and Westend.
A statement from the organizers quotes András Kárpáti, president of the Future Mobility Association, as saying that the park was created to showcase the mobility tools of the present and future for all generations of road users. He added that the exhibition and training space attracted more than a thousand visitors on its first opening weekend, which is important because the dynamic change in urban transport requires not only the development of equipment, but also the shaping of the attitudes of transport users.
Thus, WEMOVE was created to give everyone the opportunity to try out and experience the urban transport of tomorrow, and to experience what it is like to be a cyclist, scooterist, goods carrier or electric car driver in everyday life.
According to the press release, on the first days of opening, visitors could try out the latest micromobility and micro-logistics devices and electric vehicles free of charge, and experience traffic situations with the help of the simulator on display.
András Kárpáti said that there is an ideal means of transport for every situation in life, and that it is not always the case that the car, the bicycle or the train is the best solution. Therefore, the association wants to accept that there are not motorists, public transport users and cyclists on the roads, but people who simply use the roads, who should use a different means of transport for each situation, which is best suited to the given destination.
According to the Future Mobility Alliance, the use of mobility devices is constantly changing. In 2024, sales of pure electric cars set another record and the momentum looks set to continue this year, with more than 77,000 pure electric cars on the road in the country by the end of the first quarter.
The association's experts estimate that by the end of June this year, compared to the same period last year, there will be almost 44% more clean electric cars on the roads in Hungary, with 85,000 more cars on the road, while the number of cars with green plates will reach 130,000, or 2.9% of the total Hungarian car fleet.
