The Hungarian capital’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport will welcome the summer season with the largest number of flights in its history: 200 flights to 136 destinations and with 13.8 million seats available, more than ever before. The offer includes new destinations and airlines, as well as significant increases to existing destinations, the airport operator Budapest Airport has announced.
The 2025 summer season will bring the widest and most varied range of flights in the history of the airport; the 13.8 million seats and 136 destinations accessible by direct flights will set a new record in its history. The operator Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network since 2024, has announced eleven new connections for the summer schedule, which come into effect on March 30: Wizz Air will operate to Bilbao, Girona, Vilnius, Venice, Gdansk and Wroclaw; Ryanair to Castellón and Katowice; while new airline partners will launch several new flights: Jazeera Airways to Kuwait City, SCAT Airlines to Simkent and SAS Scandinavian Airlines to Copenhagen.
“We are proud to offer our passengers more destinations than ever before this summer, and I am confident that everyone will find the airline that best suits their needs to start their holiday. Our new airline development strategy, coupled with VINCI Airports’ extensive network of airline partners, is already delivering very promising results,” according to Francois Berisot, the CEO of Budapest Airport. “Moreover, the record-breaking offer of the summer schedule will not only benefit Hungarian travelers, but will also further strengthen tourism in Hungary, for which we are experiencing steadily growing demand, thanks to Budapest’s attractiveness,” he added.
Traffic between Hungary and China is also continuing to grow, with 357,300 seats available this season, 100,000 more than last year, an increase of 24%. The steady growth in demand between the two countries reflects both the strong economic ties between the countries and the tourism interest in Hungary, according to the statement.
Among existing airline partners, Lufthansa, Eurowings, KLM and easyJet will significantly increase their capacities, while Aer Lingus and Aegean Airlines will increase the weekly frequency of their flights to five, improving connections to the US and the Greek islands. The capacity increase to Israel will result in Budapest offering the most seats to and from Israel of any airport in the region this summer.
