Snowfall had stopped at Ferenc Liszt International Airport and its surroundings by the morning of January 7, and the airport has been back in operation with two runways since dawn. The morning peak was completed with some delays, but safely, the airport's operator, Budapest Airport reports.
Due to heavy snowfall last night, more than twenty evening flights were canceled for safety reasons. Some of the passengers concerned stayed overnight in the terminal or in hotels, while others went home. Budapest Airport had an increased presence at the terminal during the night, and provided continuous information and assistance to passengers on site.
The highest level of snow readiness is still in effect, and Budapest Airport services are working hard to continuously clear taxiways, aprons and runways to ensure the safety of the airport.
Delays and cancelations may still occur in case of some flights throughout the day, so we ask for your patience and understanding.
