Malta's Universal Air will launch two return flights a week on the Debrecen-Leipzig and Debrecen-Malta routes from March 30, creating a direct connection between the cities, the press service of Debrecen Airport informed MTI on Wednesday.
In a statement, they said that the two routes will be operated by a 78-seat De Havilland Canada Dash 8 aircraft of the Maltese airline. The first flight, from Malta to Debrecen, will land on the afternoon of March 30 and, after a short stopover, will continue to the German city of Leipzig, return to Debrecen and continue to Malta on the morning of March 31.
The flights will operate on Thursdays and Sundays during the summer season, they said.
In 2024, Debrecen airport had more than 220,000 passengers. Wizz Air operates a scheduled service between Debrecen and London, and Lufthansa between Debrecen and Munich. In April, the Wizz Air Debrecen-Tel-Aviv flight will resume, the airport's press service said, adding that seven more overseas holiday destinations will be available with charter flights from Debrecen during the summer season.
