This past Sunday, Qatar Airways celebrated ten years of linking the Hungarian capital with the capital city of Qatar, Doha and the Qatar Airways global network.
Ir was on January 17, 2011, that the inaugural flight, an Airbus A320 carrying VIP guests touched down in Budapest and was greeted with a traditional water-cannon salute (see picture).
As the airline’s 23rd destination in Europe and 97th destination overall at the time the launch of direct flights four times per week between Doha and Budapest opened up gateways to new markets for Hungarian
travellers via Doha.
Today, Qatar Airways operates three flights per week to Doha using the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline has won many awards worldwide. It was also recognised in Hungary many times, including the 'Best Airline in Hungary' Award from the Association of Hungarian Travel Agencies, a statement by the airline says.
According to Qatar Airways Country Manager for Hungary, Martin Zdarek, “Budapest remains a key market for us and we thank our customers who’ve chosen us and to the partners who have supported us in all these years. We are glad to continue to be a part of your journey and to create wonderful memories together.”
