Wizz Air will provide around four million seats on its Hungarian flights to 70 destinations this summer season, thus maintaining its market leadership in Hungary, the low-cost airline told MTI on Tuesday.
They stressed that in the travel period starting in April and ending at the end of September, they expect another outstanding result after last year's record-breaking passenger numbers.
In last summer season, approximately three million passengers flew on Wizz Air flights from Hungary, most of them booked their tickets well in advance, with the most popular destinations being beach resorts and historic cities with many attractions, the statement said.
They expect the most popular destinations for Hungarian travelers this summer to remain Egypt, Greece, Spain and Turkey.
They say that passengers can travel from Budapest and Debrecen to a total of 70 destinations.
In 2023, Wizz Air broke its previous passenger traffic record, carrying more than 60.3 million passengers last year, an increase of around 32% compared to 2022; in Hungary, this represented 5.2 million passengers and a 29% increase compared to the previous year.
Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 196 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
