The heat alert ordered by the National Medical Officer Cecília Müller has entered into force. According to the government decree, this is considered an exceptional weather situation and justifies the imposition of exceptional measures.
According to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service, the heat will continue in the coming days, with a peak in the middle of the week, when it could reach 37 to 39 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.
On Friday, the first wave of cold air will arrive from the west, with showers and thunderstorms to moderate the heat. On Tuesday, daytime highs will be between 33 and 38 degrees. Late in the evening, it will be between 23 and 29 degrees Celsius, Met.hu reports. Baranya, Bács-Kiskun and Tolna counties have already been issued the highest red alert for the heatwave.
Since Saturday, a heat warning was in effect, which has now been changed to a heat alert by the chief medical officer, Cecília Müller. According to a joint statement by the National Center for Public Health and the National Directorate General for Disaster Prevention, the highest level of the measure, level three, will be in force from Tuesday from midnight to Thursday.
