On Friday evening, snow and sleet fell on the peaks of the Bük and Zemplén mountain ranges, around Tokaj and in northern Hungary in general – the first snowfall of the end of the year in Hungary.
Forecasts suggest that the north-eastern and eastern counties, especially around Tokaj and the Nyírség region, could be white by morning.
Snow cover is also expected in the mountains. There is a chance of more than five centimeters of snow in the Zemplén Hills, but it is also probable in the Bük Hill. Small snowfalls may still develop in the Mátra and Bük Hills at dawn and in the morning. During the day, the snow will melt in the low areas, but will remain on the peaks.
